Duncan

Just a quick update about Duncan at school today. His Dad took vacation so he took Duncan to school and picked him up. One of Duncan's friends decided to take his bike from him so Duncan decided to put the boy in a head lock! Oh my, he is not in kindergarten yet, what are we going to do??!! Needless to say the teacher put the bike up and both boys went on their way.
Ethan is walking more, he walked 1/2 way across the living room today. I am sure it won't be much longer til he is cruising the whole house!

What a year it's been

Well what a year it has been. We went from all the babies in the NICU to coming home all within a week of each other. We had help most all of the time to now on Tuesday day and Thursday evening. How it is nice to have our house back to ourselves for the most part, it was wonderful with all the help. We sure could of not done it without everyone. ( well and been sain anyway!!). The babies are sleeping most all night, most nights. Duncan is a good sleeper too, but likes to get in bed with Mom and Dad once in awhile, what kid doesn't?!!

We are venturing out more and more, now that winter is here I don't know how much we will. It takes about 10 minutes to get everyone buckled into the van. And then we are off, doesn't take nearly as long to unload, since most of the time someone is there to help us where ever we are going! I do go by myself sometimes, mostly just to take Duncan to school or pick him up so then I don't have to unload everyone. I have been to the store a couple of times for just a few items, loaded everyone in the big stroller and went on my way.

I think I have pretty much adjusted to being a stay at home mom, although it is nice to get out once in awhile. I do still work prn at Iowa Heart Center. I have just been working 8 hours every 3 months to keep my job, but I do hope to be able to work a little more as the kids get bigger. I am very thankful for Tracy, he does just as much as me, if not more some days!

All of the babies are up walking around stuff now, won't be long and they will be walking!! Ethan has started to take a few steps himself the last week or so. He gets so excited when he does. they are all good eaters too, thank goodness. They started out sitting on top of an old kitchen table we cut holes in to strap their chairs down to, now they are on their own chairs. They like to pick on each other if they can reach each other!

Duncan loves school. He always wants to go see his friends. He loves to read and be read to also! I am glad he loves to read so much! He still loves to be outside too, some days can't hardly get him inside.

Tracy and I are doing well for the most part too, it is a whole new life having 4 babies all the same age. We would not change it for the world, it is so much fun! We love to see all 5 of the kids grow and change everyday. They all have their own personalities that is for sure.

I will try and post some pictures, I have a bunch from everything we have done. Thanks to Abby because sometimes I don't even get my camera out! I am trying to do better about that.

I am so excited for Christmas in just a few days, it will be so much fun this year, just like every year.

December 2011

Duncan wanted Olivia to hold her, that is way he said anyway!

This is what happened when I rested while the babies were resting and Duncan was watching a movie! He was "washing" his trucks... Not a huge mess, but big enough. Guess I shouldn't rest anymore while he is up!

It is the middle of December almost, hard to believe!

Ethan is starting to take steps on his own, I am not ready for this!! Owen and Elliott are standing on their own, and I am sure Olivia will soon follow.

We went to Christ the King to see Santa. It was a good time, Duncan made ornaments for all of the kids. They all sat on Santa's lap and no one cried!

The babies are sleeping pretty good, they are sleeping through the night for the most part which is very nice. We let them cry for the most part, unless they carry on for to long. They are all good eaters, they will eat pretty much whatever we put in front of them. They are kind of drinking out of a sippy cup, but still have bottles of milk. They boys really don't seem to care some of the time about bottles, but Miss Olivia really likes hers.
Duncan is excited for Christmas, he says he wants a big tow truck. That is even what he told Santa, that is the only thing he told Santa he wanted!

The Quads are ONE!! What a year it has been.. We had a Big Birthday Party at the Community Center. We celebrated The quads 1st birthday, Taylor's 16th, Sarah's 14th, Hannah will soon be 13 and Duncan will soon be 4!! What a great time it was, the babies loved the cake that their Aunt Abby made them. They got lots of neat gifts, and they were very tired at the end of the day! Duncan got lots of neat gifts also. He danced the night away once the DJ started playing! The Ellis' came and watched the babies at night so we could enjoy the girls' party. I am sure it wasn't much work, they came home at 5:30 or so and all in bed by 6:30!!

Owen and Ethan got haircuts. Olivia got her ears pierced, but pulled them out within 2 days. Elliott and Owen had strep throat, they treated everyone in the house.

We had the Gruber Thanksgiving at the community building in Prairie City. It was fun to see everyone!

I worked the day after Thanksgiving, it was nice to go to work. Tracy stayed home with the kids and decided that we need a babysitter next time I work ( yea right!).

Duncan: Loving school and always talking about his friends!! He won't tell me much about what he does at school, but if I ask questions he will answer, sometimes! He loves to paint and play outside at school. His teacher always has good things to say. His teacher says he is a good listener. His conferences went well, they said he is doing very well for only being 3. He pretty much does what he needs to do, even the harder task that the 4 and 5 year olds do.

The kids all dressed up for Halloween. I took them to the High School for safe trick or treat, Trunk or Treat in Norwoodville, and Grandma took them to Prairie City for trick or treat there. The girls went with Grandma and the kids, they all had a good time.

Owen, Elliott, Olivia, and Ethan are all crawling and walking around stuff. Olivia was the last to crawl, but once all of the boys were doing it, she sure wasn't going to be left behind.

Duncan: Duncan started preschool this month. He LOVES it!! He goes 3 1/2 days a week. He has made a couple of friends, but doesn't say much about school. They say that is normal at this age. He is in the 3,4,and 5 year old class.

We celebrated Grandpa Wes' 80th birthday over labor day. It was a good time, we went to mass on Saturday night at Onie's and then to the party at Grandpa's on Sunday. Jim, Bea, Ash, Greg, and Ian were all back. It was a good time. Grandpa enjoyed himself. We had a weenie roast, that is what he loves!!

Not much new with any of the kids! Dr. Owens and NICU check up, all is well!!

We went to the Iowa State Fair. What fun, we of course got lots of looks, and comments as well! We went on the first day of the fair, it was the twins, triplets and more contest. The babies got 4th in least look alike. I had them dressed alike, I didn't know what I was doing really! So anyway we will know for next year. The girls went with us, it is always nice to have the extra help! We went to the fair a couple more times also, we unloaded at Karen and Paul's camper and then I took the van and parked it. Being in the campground, made Tracy and I both realize how much we miss camping at the fair. Within the next few years hopefully we will be back. All of the kids did awesome, of course they love to be outside, so that helps.

The craziness of 4 babies who all want to eat at once, and it had been a very busy day!!

We got our new to us van at the end of June. It is black with orange flames on it. You can't miss us. It works well for what we need, I need to be able to go by myself! Now I can. With the front seat out, I put the stroller in and off we go!! After the kids are all in that is!

Duncan: He went and spent the night at Grandma Mert's with the girls. He had a blast and wants to go back!!

Owen: 1st tooth, bottom right

Olivia: 2 bottom teeth

Ethan and Elliott: noting new

We had the Gruber Reunion at the park, it was lots of fun, fun to see everyone.

We went camping at Saylorville. Gladys and Dennis were nice enough to let us use their camper.

The first night was awful. The kids didn't sleep so neither did Tracy or I. We finally came out about 11:00 am. The kids were fine during the day, that first night was just awful. The second night was better, they slept better, but not great. At least we got some sleep! Even with how bad it was, it made me realize how much I miss camping! Maybe next year we will be able to go more, we will see.
